Early US intelligence suggests strikes on Iran did not destroy nuclear sites – CNN

CNN reports:
The US military strikes on three of Iran’s nuclear facilities
last weekend did not destroy the core components of the country’s
nuclear program and likely only set it back by months, according to an
early US intelligence assessment that was described by three people
briefed on it.
It also notes that the analysis could change as more intel becomes available, which makes sense as how could you immediately know if a structure deep underground was destroyed.
I’m not sure if any of this is true or not but why would the US leak this? Could it have been leaked to find a leaker? Or to damage CNN’s credibility (if it’s untrue)? I really think that a CNN source citing three people of classified material is extremely unlikely to be a true leak.
In any case, time for another war?
